Father's Day!

Hello everyone,
Today I will be showing you a Father's Day card made using the Urban District stamp set that is also sadly retiring!  I thought I would squeeze in a few card posts that have retiring stamp sets.

Urban District Clear-Mount Stamp Set

I have made two cards with this stamp set using a brand new In Colour - Lemon Lime Twist! I am in love with this colour.

I made two cards but different variations - one for a father and one for a grandfather.

These cards were very simple to make and are perfect for beginners!

This stamp set is on the retiring list so be sure to grab one before they are all gone on May 31st!

 Have a good week everyone!

Basics for Creating Card Bases

Hello everyone,
Today's post is all about creating card bases out of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock. You can also create bases out of the 12 x 12 but it is easier to just use the 8 1/2 x 11.

I am taking the images from my team leader, Allison Okamitsu's blog as she explained it really well how to cut the bases.

I use these two card bases the most. But you can do any size card base you like. If you use 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock, you can get two card bases out of every sheet

This is a great resource for beginners - be sure to save the link!!

Also, make sure to pick up your Stampin' Up! Trimmer - I love mine! It has a cutting blade and a scoring blade!

Cool Treats!

Good morning everyone!

I am back with some fun summery, bright cards! I am so in love with this suite of products, I am incredibly sad that the Designer Series Paper is retiring :(  I need to stock up on it before it is gone forever!!

Today's cards feature all the products in the Cool Treats suite of products.

These cards were so much fun to make! They are very different from the cards I have been making lately. I tried two new designs, one was simple, the second was a bit more difficult.

Tasty Treats Suite

This is a good beginner's card

This card was very simple to make. I took a piece of 8 1/2 by 11 of Whisper White cardstock and cut it at 5 1/2". Then I scored it at 4 1/4". I then cut off a 1" piece on the front of the card and then stuck a piece of DSP (Designer Series Paper) on the inside of the card. For the ice cream, I stamped the 3 different colours and then used the thinlits that coordinate with the stamp set, to cut out the shapes (both for the ice cream and the cone). The cherry was also a die but there was no stamp for it, so I stamped some Watermelon Wonder on a piece of card stock then ran it through the Big Shot to get the shape.

This card is definitely more for the advanced stampers
I had a hard time trying to get a good picture to showcase the Z fold

Now this second card was a bit more difficult. The hardest part was setting up the layout of the card, it is a Z fold card. I have to give credit to the person I CASE'd this card from - Kim Williams!  I found this on Pinterest and just had to try it for myself.

Here are the instructions directly from her blog that tells you how to make the Z fold:
"To make the simple "Z" fold: Start with a 11" x 4 1/4" piece of pool party cardstock, simply fold it in half as you would to make a regular card. Next, fold the front flap of the card, up towards the top fold of the card. That's it. You will then attach the whisper white 4" x 5 1/4" piece on the inside of the card."

This card is the most fun card I have made in a while and I will definitely be making more just like it but changing up the DSP that is used. I will also play around with the different frozen treats you can make with the stamp set.

To get the two tone images for the treats, take a colour you would like to use (in this case Peekaboo Peach). Ink up the stamp you would like to do, then stamp it on to a scrap piece of paper to get excess ink off. Now stamp the image on to a piece of Whisper White card stock - you will get a pale version of the ink colour. Then take the corresponding stamp that goes with the treat and ink it up. Then stamp directly onto the pale ink and you will get a two tone image! You could also take two ink colours that are very similar (one light colour and one dark colour) to also create this look. Example would be Pool Party for the base colour, then Bermuda Bay for the darker colour.

Also, on the Happiest Birthday image, I added a little Peekaboo Peach enamel dot on the i.

Unfortunately, the Watermelon Wonder ink pad has been discontinued and so no longer available for purchase :( I love that colour and so sad to see it go!

I am soo glad that the stamp set and coordinating framelits are here to stay! I may just have to do a class with this set! Stay tuned ;)

I have to say but this is my favourite blog post!! These cards just make me so happy :)

More brand new product - At Home With You!

Good Morning everyone!

At Home With You Bundle

I am back today with more brand new product from the new catalogue! This bundle is called At Home With You. When the new catalogue goes live on June 1st you can get the stamp set and the framelits together and get 10% off! There are so many things you can do with this stamp set. There are stamps for the 4 seasons - there are wreaths, garland and presents for Christmas; pumpkins for fall; and flowers for spring and summer. This set is so versatile!

The framelits were fun to work with too! You can cut out the door to make it open! There are dies for all of the images in the stamp set. I kept this card pretty simple as it was my first time playing with it. I plan on making more cards with this set, one for every season.

Check out this YouTube video to see what Brandi has to say about the bundle and see all the stamped images cut out.

If you would like a copy of the catalogue - contact me today and I will send one out to you!!

Tomorrow I will have two cards that feature returning product (stamp and dies) and retired product (designer series paper). These cards are probably my new favourite!!

Remember, if you have any questions about anything you see on my blog, contact me here or on my Facebook page (Creations by Fallon).

Remember to also check out the retiring products! You have until May 31st to order these and then they are gone forever :(

Chicago and New Product!

Hey everyone!

I am finally back with some brand new cards! I had a wonderful vacation with my husband and some much needed time off. Got to spend a few days with my mom as well :) But now it's back to normal routines and trying to get back into the grove of things. I had so much time off this month it was insane but definitely needed! Now time to plan our next vacation but this one will be a family vacation!

While in Chicago we of course went to go see the famous Bean!

Here is a gorgeous picture from the architecture boat tour we did in Chicago. The buildings are really amazing there. We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel and the tour guide called it the champagne building (it really did look like a champagne bottle - the building was green but the top was gold).

Husband really wanted to go up the Willis tour but I was not having it! he did finally convince me to go up to the top of the John Hancock building - 94 floors!! My legs went jello when I would stand near the glass. You can see our hotel in this picture - the green building with the gold top, sort of in the middle of the picture.

Anyways on to the main purpose of this blog post! NEW PRODUCT!! Being a demonstrator for Stampin' Up! I am lucky enough to be able to pre order brand new product before it is available to customers to order. The first pre order I did was to get the new suite called Delightful Daisy and the rest of the ink for the new In Colors.

This suite is soooo pretty in person. The daisies are cut out with a punch and I punched out two to get the layered effect.

I love this suite so much - I will be making a lot of cards with the paper, stamps and punch.

If you would like to take advantage of being able to pre order before everyone else - contact me today to find out how!

The catalogue is going live in 8 days! The countdown is on!

There are so many beautiful and fun products I cannot wait to get my hands on. I do have more cards I have created, one using all brand new product and another using retired and carried over product. Be sure to check back to see these cards!

Mother's Day Card Part Five!

Hey guys,
I didn't mean to get this post out so late but it was a very busy day! My mom flew in from Hamilton last night and we all spent the day together. We went to the CBC Calgary Reads book sale and then walked around downtown for a bit! It was a gorgeous day!

Anyways, here is today's Mother's Day card. This card was incredibly easy! The flower vine was all one stamp and then I stamped the flowers and cut them out and adhered them on with dimensionals.

Going to keep this post short and sweet today as I still have some packing to do before me and the hubby leave for our vacation tomorrow! We are off to Chicago for 5 days and my mom will be staying in Calgary to watch our son.We have not had a vacation since we went away to Las Vegas almost 4 years.

I will have some new posts late next week showing off some brand new product from the new annual catalogue!! Be sure to tune in because the first card I will share is absolutely gorgeous!!
