Cool Treats!

Good morning everyone!

I am back with some fun summery, bright cards! I am so in love with this suite of products, I am incredibly sad that the Designer Series Paper is retiring :(  I need to stock up on it before it is gone forever!!

Today's cards feature all the products in the Cool Treats suite of products.

These cards were so much fun to make! They are very different from the cards I have been making lately. I tried two new designs, one was simple, the second was a bit more difficult.

Tasty Treats Suite

This is a good beginner's card

This card was very simple to make. I took a piece of 8 1/2 by 11 of Whisper White cardstock and cut it at 5 1/2". Then I scored it at 4 1/4". I then cut off a 1" piece on the front of the card and then stuck a piece of DSP (Designer Series Paper) on the inside of the card. For the ice cream, I stamped the 3 different colours and then used the thinlits that coordinate with the stamp set, to cut out the shapes (both for the ice cream and the cone). The cherry was also a die but there was no stamp for it, so I stamped some Watermelon Wonder on a piece of card stock then ran it through the Big Shot to get the shape.

This card is definitely more for the advanced stampers
I had a hard time trying to get a good picture to showcase the Z fold

Now this second card was a bit more difficult. The hardest part was setting up the layout of the card, it is a Z fold card. I have to give credit to the person I CASE'd this card from - Kim Williams!  I found this on Pinterest and just had to try it for myself.

Here are the instructions directly from her blog that tells you how to make the Z fold:
"To make the simple "Z" fold: Start with a 11" x 4 1/4" piece of pool party cardstock, simply fold it in half as you would to make a regular card. Next, fold the front flap of the card, up towards the top fold of the card. That's it. You will then attach the whisper white 4" x 5 1/4" piece on the inside of the card."

This card is the most fun card I have made in a while and I will definitely be making more just like it but changing up the DSP that is used. I will also play around with the different frozen treats you can make with the stamp set.

To get the two tone images for the treats, take a colour you would like to use (in this case Peekaboo Peach). Ink up the stamp you would like to do, then stamp it on to a scrap piece of paper to get excess ink off. Now stamp the image on to a piece of Whisper White card stock - you will get a pale version of the ink colour. Then take the corresponding stamp that goes with the treat and ink it up. Then stamp directly onto the pale ink and you will get a two tone image! You could also take two ink colours that are very similar (one light colour and one dark colour) to also create this look. Example would be Pool Party for the base colour, then Bermuda Bay for the darker colour.

Also, on the Happiest Birthday image, I added a little Peekaboo Peach enamel dot on the i.

Unfortunately, the Watermelon Wonder ink pad has been discontinued and so no longer available for purchase :( I love that colour and so sad to see it go!

I am soo glad that the stamp set and coordinating framelits are here to stay! I may just have to do a class with this set! Stay tuned ;)

I have to say but this is my favourite blog post!! These cards just make me so happy :)
